“Flapper “
The notorious character type who bobbed her hair, smoke cigarettes, drank gin, sported short skirts, and passed her evenings in steamy jazz clubs, where she danced in a shockingly immodest fashion with a revolving cast of male suitors.”
“The New Woman of the 1920s boldly asserted her right to dance, drink, smoke, and date— to work her own property, to live free of the strictures that governed her mother’s generation. (…) She flouted Victorian-era conventions and scandalized her parents. In many ways, she controlled her own destiny”
I am an intelligent, eloquent, well-mannered young woman who just so happens to say “fuck” a lot.
Alexander McQueen comes from a long tradition of avant-garde designers who blur the lines between art and fashion. Creating larger-than-life ensembles that seemed at times to be like actual breathing animals when worn, he also made many fine pieces that could be worn as chic clothing.
Yet, his greatest pieces are those that engulf the wearer and transform them into living pieces of art.
Everything about this post is perfect. Because growing up is for losers.
Cherryphant is doing it right.
